“Spatium et Tempus” (belonging to both space and time) is an exhibition of recent works by Sigrid Burton, Sharon Weiner and Jeanne Patterson. Although at first glance the artists paintings are quite different in color, surface and mood they have much in common in their approach to searching and finding resolution and meaning in their work. All three artists start without a preconceived fixed idea. They use the process of painting; pouring, layering, removing, searching to discover and develop their images. The viewer can follow the path of the individual artist’s act of seeing, creating and responding to the moment. Weiner “visualizes the process of self-revelation in a kind of internal dialogue”. Burton “provides a view to an interior dialogue and immersive experience”. Both of these artists are responding to their imagination and the natural environment. Patterson’s work relates through her process of painting, adding and subtracting to discover the place where the mind and the physical come together.
